Primitive Shooter - Firearms Training in Northeast and South Florida

This class, taught by our NRA certified instructors, and meets the requirement of a firearm safety class to obtain a Florida concealed weapons permit. The course includes classroom time dedicated to responsible and safe firearm ownership, basics of handgun types, function, and parts, fundamentals of marksmanship, and reviewing the pertinent Florida statutes related to carrying a concealed firearm. The course is welcome to all skill levels, even those who have never shot a gun before. During the classroom session, there is hands on training with the various handgun types and practice of shooting fundamentals with inert demonstration guns.

Following the classroom session, students will proceed to the range for a live fire qualification to demonstrate basic proficiency.

Upon successful completion of the class, the student will be given a certificate which must be submitted with the application. An informational packet explaining the application process is provided which will help students obtain their license expeditiously in a matter of weeks.

Students may elect to bring their own firearm and ammunition, or they can rent at the time of the class, but for safety, NO LIVE AMMUNITION is permitted into the classroom. The entire course lasts approximately 2 to 4 hours. Space is limited to 20 students per class. Each student must bring a photo ID. You will receive 1 on 1 training with one of our NRA certified instructors, during this time our instructors will assist you in becoming a more proficient shooter. Our instructors will review the fundamentals of marksmanship, aid you with defensive shooting, and any other areas you wish to improve.

In this class you will learn the necessary skills, required to pass a Florida Class "G" License Shooting Qualification. We will cover: gun safetey, shooting fundamentals, holster draw and re-holster procedures, basic firearm retention methods, trigger and muzzle dicipline. We will shoot approximately 300 rounds of ammunition. The skills you learn in this course will prepare you to pass the shooting requirements of the Florida Class "G" License and qualify with an instructor, holding Florida Class "K" License.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type.

Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification.

Equipment Required:

• Ear and Eye protection (electronic muffs preferred)
• Shoes - comfortable with sufficient support to permit a full range of motion. No sandals or flip-flops.
• Semi-Automatic Pistol or Revolver with at least 100 rounds of factory ammunition. NO RELOADS
• Two functional magazines (semi-autos) or speed-loaders (revolvers)
• Comfortable clothing, knee-pads (optional) and foot wear suitable for training outdoors.
